Track Facts and Information |
The Track:
Elko Speedway
is a high-banked, 3/8-mile; paved oval track located 10
minutes south of Burnsville on 1-35, Exit 76. The track allows
for 2 and 3 wide racing. The pit area is completely paved and
offers paved areas for the cars. The track is well lighted
with lights around the entire track. With its rich 40 year
racing history, Elko Speedway is the premier racing facility
in the area. 2005 will mark the 20th year that Elko Speedway
has been affiliated with the National Association for Stock
Car Auto Racing or NASCAR. The Speedway maintains standards
high enough to be one of only 60 short tracks across the
country to be sanctioned by NASCAR and fly the banner of the
Weekly Racing Series Presented by Dodge.
Elko Speedway has
experienced tremendous growth in the past several years. Since
1991 the speedway has seen spectator counts almost triple,
competitor car count increase 5 times, and corporate
sponsorship involvement up dramatically.
NASCAR and Auto
Racing's growth both nationally and locally is attributed to
its record setting customer loyalty to the NASCAR banner and
its products. Make Elko Speedway your choice of use for your
marketing and advertising dollars.
The Cars:
Late
Models are highly modified, with fabricated frames and
fiberglass or aluminum bodies and built-for-racing engines.
Sportsmen cars are mid-size sedans with stock sheet metal and
major engine and suspension modifications. Thunder Cars are
stock cars with minor engine and suspension modifications
allowed. Street Stocks are a low-cost, entry-level division
that are nearly straight from the factory. They must have
stock engines, transmissions, rear ends and body components. |
